Michael Kimmelman is the architecture critic of The New York Times, founder and editor-at-large of Headway, a journalistic initiative focused on global challenges and paths toward progress, and the author of several books, most recently "The Intimate City" (November, 2022). He has reported from more than 40 countries, twice been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, teaches as an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. and for several years was based in Berlin as a Times columnist covering social and cultural affairs across Europe and the Middle East.
