Giovanni Abrahão Salum is the Program Director of the Child and Youth Mental Health Initiative, a partnership between the Child Mind Institute and mental health professionals from Alexandroupoli, Athens, Ioannina, Heraklion and Thessaloniki under the overall umbrella of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Health Initiative. Dr. Salum is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He coordinated for two years the mental health system of Porto Alegre/Brazil and directed the adult and child community mental health services of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre. He has published more than 200 publications in the field of child psychiatry focused on developmental psychopathology, novel interventions for emotional and behavioral problems in children and mental health care in public health systems.
