Senior Vice President of Prevent Epidemics
Resolve to Save Lives
Amanda McClelland is the Senior Vice President of Prevent Epidemics at Resolve to Save Lives(RTSL), where she leads a team working to accelerate progress to make the world safer from the next epidemic while also responding to COVID-19.
Three years before COVID-19 arrived, Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) had already sought to strengthen epidemic preparedness and prevention. Following the West Africa Ebola epidemic and the imminent threat of a major infectious disease, Amanda’s team partnered with low- and middle-income countries in their efforts to step up their preparedness. Her team also sought to advise on global policy to make improvements in how countries identify and respond to epidemics.
In March 2020, her team pivoted to support COVID-19 response efforts, including the establishment of the U.S. COVID-19 Response Program. RTSL’s COVID response efforts have supported local, national and global decision-makers in the U.S. and around the world in managing and adapting their public health response to the pandemic using evidence-based strategies.
Amanda is a registered nurse and a notable expert in international public health management, epidemic response and preparedness who brings more than 15 years of humanitarian and public health experience. Prior to joining Resolve to Save Lives, Amanda served as the Global Emergency Health Advisor for the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC).
