Professor of Psychiatry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Past-President of the World Federation of ADHD. Current President of the International Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP).

Served as International Editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2008-2017) and as Co-Editor of the European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2004-2013).Published more than 450 scientific articles, 50 book chapters or editorials, and is the organizer or editor of 9 books on the mental health of children and adolescents in Brazil, England, Germany and the USA. It has about 42000 citations per doc and H Index = 83 (Google Scholar). Between 2020 and 2022, he was among the researchers most influential in the fields of psychology and psychiatry (top 1%) for the last decade according to Clarivate (Web of Science).
