The normalization of violence: The impact of gun violence on children and adolescents
Friday June 23, 14:30, Lobby NLG
The speakers referred to the impact of gun violence as a universal problem, but one that is not being discussed as a key issue internationally. It continues to be a plague, towards the healing of which we are moving very slowly. The panel outlined steps and initiatives that could mitigate the problem, such as changing gun laws, educating young people and health professionals about the issue, and increasing access to mental health services while reducing the stigma around seeking help for psychological problems.
