Talk
The importance of early prevention and the global state of child and adolescent mental health
Thursday June 22, 09:10, Stavros Niarchos Hall GNO
During the session, Dr. Koplewicz, president of the Child Mind Institute, presented CMI as a catalyst dedicated to improving access to quality care for children's mental health through partnerships with local experts, crafting best practices, and advancing digital tools. With the collaboration of global partners like UNICEF, the WHO, and the International Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Institute aims to combat challenges such as delayed diagnosis, stigma, and workforce disengagement. Through the Healthy Minds, Thriving Kids Project, the Institute is reaching out to millions of students and parents. Meanwhile, the Youth Mental Health Academy is training culturally diverse students to address workforce gaps, and the Next Generation Digital Therapeutic Program aims to enhance remote care. A unique collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has resulted in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Initiative, designed to boost the capacity of the Greek public health sector. With a focus on children in middle- and low-income countries, who represent 90% of the global child population, the Institute continues to pursue its mission of transforming children's lives globally.
