Shards, Philip Glass: Études for Piano, Book I - An audiovisual performance

Philip Glass, now in his ninth decade of life, is one of the most highly regarded American composers of our time, and his Études, a solo anthology, show his exploration of a diversity of rhythms, styles, and techniques in piano music.

As part of the SNF Nostos celebration—and for the first time in Greece—soloist and conductor Nikolaos Laaris, whom The Times’ music critic Stephen Pettit described as “a fine artist, one incapable of making an ugly sound,” will be playing from these études, conveying the wide range of dynamics, rhythms, and emotions that characterize them.

The piano will be accompanied by a real-time projection of a digital animation designed and shown by Georgios Cherouvim, produced exclusively for this performance. The show’s artistic director is Georgios Georgiou and the stage director and producer is Dimitris Delinikolas.
